Choosing your Wedding Shoes.
With Paradox, London
Whilst it can seem to some that wedding shoes aren't vital to an outfit as they're often hidden, there are many good reasons why you need something lovely on your feet that day!
Firstly, comfort! You're going to be on your feet for a long time, standing for photos, meeting and greeting guests, and then dancing in the evening. Now isn't the time for some killer stilettos that look fabulous but leave you almost crippled after 20 minutes!
Our advice would be stick to what you know best - if you live in trainers or pumps, don't go for towering heels! Find a delicate kitten heel or pretty flat shoe. Whilst you want something special, don't associate this necessarily with 'something different' - it might make a change and so feel more of a novelty to put on on your wedding morning - but a bride hobbling down the isle is not a good look!
Similarly, if you're used to strutting your stuff around the office in skyscraper heels, going for the ballerina look could seriously start to ache after a while. Our feet know what they're used to!
Another thing to consider is height - in the wedding photos do you want to look shorter than/taller than/the same height as your new husband? Whilst we recommend taking heed of the tips above, if you're concerned about a height difference (be it that you don't want to look taller, or only come up to his breast pocket), you might want to bend the rules!
Ofcourse you can test your shoes - infact we'd positively recommend it. Whenever you're home alone in the run up to your big day, practice wearing and walking around in your shoes to break them in. Put plastic bags or disposable shower caps over each foot if you're concerned about getting them grubby! You want them emaculate for your big day! (So resist popping down the shops in them, or washing the car/doing some gardening!)
As we said earlier, people often think wedding shoes are hidden - but it's very likely your photographer will take a photo of you getting out of your car, or of you showing your garter to your Groom; all photos that involve you hitching your skirt up! Plus you may find that during the day you life your skirt often to walk.
